GOT TRUCK???

This year we were approached by Lone Mountain Truck
Leasing. They had heard about Trucker Charity and were very interested in
helping but didn't quite know in what capacity. When we forge these
partnerships we want to give our sponsors a lot of bang for their buck to show
the appreciation for their support. Beings that we had formed a trucking side
of the charity to help in our educational mission (TCI Transport) we have 3
huge ways of giving that bang. This year at MATS we were able to show off this
bang, a 53’ rolling bill board, on one of TCI Transport’s trailers. Lone
Mountain Leasing out of Pacific Junction, Ia has generously signed on to fund
Trucker Charity with a monthly donation and has wrapped one of our trailers
with their logo and information to solidify the partnership. Thanks to their
generous monthly donation we will be able to continue on our mission of Get’n
them safe, Get’n them fed and Get’n them home and help more drivers and their
families in need. Lone Mountain Truck Leasing is a true leasing company which
goes by more than your “I love debt score” (credit score). They take into
account your good work history at a greater level than credit score. They
provide the truck, you provide the carrier that you want to lease to. With Lone
Mountain you’re not in a lease with the same company that controls your freight
lanes. Lone Mountain allows you to take the truck off site to a mechanic of
your choice to have it checked out before you sign the dotted line. They have
some great equipment to offer someone looking to jump over to the O/O side of
the industry as well as for those looking to replace some tired equipment.

We have experienced great interest in them while the
charity truck stops at fuel stops and shippers/receivers. Tony Hamilton has all
the information with him and will be glad to explain how they work. So if you
see a giant Peterbilt jumping off of a trailer coming right at you, stop Tony
and get the low down.

Like an internet dating service, carriers meet shippers and brokers online. Some carriers use a load board to book every trip and others use it for back hauls. They keep trucks full, allowing drivers to avoid empty miles. Because load boards present the opportunity for business partnerships, it’s important to find a load board that checks the credentials of participating companies before they are posted and has years of proven experience.

Load boards are used by transportation professionals, from owner-operators to the largest shippers and brokers, as a reliable source for loads and trucks. Most provide other business-critical tools such as lane rates, compliance, and mileage and routing information.

TruckersEdge®, powered by DAT® is built specifically for owner-operators who want to find freight. It’s easy-to-use and very affordable. It provides:

 Unlimited load searching and truck posting

 Instant alarm match notification for your searches

 Mileage and routing

 Broker credit scores and days-to-pay

 Weather and road conditions

 Reliable partnerships – we ensure that every participant in our network maintains the proper authority, licenses and code of conduct.

The DAT Network began in 1978 as Dial-A-Truck (DAT) at the Jubitz® truck stop in Portland, Oregon. It’s the original ‘load board’ that started as a board covered with index cards advertising available loads to for-hire drivers waiting at truck stops. Over the years, the DAT has grown to become the primary place where transportation professionals meet. It’s a vibrant marketplace for 60 million loads and trucks per year and has become the industry standard for load boards. The DAT Network serves as the backbone for all of TransCore’s load board products.

In the face of an unpredictable economy, put your trust in the safest, largest and most reliable marketplace to find the highest paying loads. With TruckersEdge.net, you’ll have your choice of more than 180,000 fresh loads daily, many that you won't find anywhere else. Find out how you can get your first 30 days of TruckersEdge.net free, here.

© 2013 TransCore.

For
the past 29 years the community of Belleville, IL has come together
to support Charity. The town of Belleville has been hosting the Chili
Cook Off since 1983. It started with just a few vendors celebrating
their love for chili and has grown to over 70 vendors that serve not
only chili of all kinds, but also the usual “fair food” you will
find at these sort of events, also there are several beer tents
located throughout the Chili Cook Off. The event is hosted each year
by the Belleville Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by various local
businesses.

The
Chili Cook Off attracts over 60,000 people annually. Those who attend
can sample some of the best chili in the area and watch the 3 local
judges determine who has the best chili in the area. There is a non
profit winner and a private/commercial vendor winner and a first,
second and third place ribbon is awarded. Festival attendees can
register at each vendor booth for their favorite chili

Most
of the vendors are non profit charities but some businesses donate
100% of their proceeds to their charity of choice. By now I am sure
you are intrigued and would like to know more about this wondrous
event.

OK
here is how it works. The vendors that have made chili sell sample
cups of their chili. The prices range from $.25 to $1.00 per sample
cup. All the money raised by the vendors selling Chili and their
other wares, is either donated to Charity if raised by a business or
kept by the charity. If you find a chili, charity or specific vendor
that you think is better than all the rest you can “vote” for
them by adding money to their “People's Choice” jar. The vendor
that has the most money in their jar wins the peoples choice award.
All the money collected in the Peoples Choice jars is donated to a
local food bank.

What
does this have to do with Trucker Charity? Well this year Trucker
Charity Inc has purchased booth space at the Chili Cook Off. This
will help us get the word out about the Charity in a community where
trucking is an integral part of daily life and raise some MUCH
needed funds. Vice President Ben Pernell ( Chiliman) and his wife
Arlene will be cooking our chili that we plan to enter into the
competition. Secretary Kerry Mullins as usual has been frantic
organizing everything down to the last bean and the President Lance
Wood.... Well he has been working on a super secret dish that is
going to drive the public wild. Those who show us a current CDL or
active duty military in uniform will eat for FREE!!!!! This year
Trucker Charity has an extensive menu.

So why not! I began working from home but Mascoutah does not allow at home businesses in a residential area to have clients/customers visit them at their home so I was unable to schedule tax appointments the way I planned. I began to know more of the local businesses and their owners and with that my business began to grow. I was offered a little office space in Mascoutah which I still occupy today and could not thank everyone enough who has helped me get to today. In two years, my business has grown into much more than I thought it ever would! My story is proof that determination and confidence, will lead you down the path you have visioned.

You may be wondering what happened to my wife...in 2010 my wife's doctor's informed her that she would need a transplant. Kate has a rare disease which made it difficult for them to find a "good" kidney match for her. They told us it may be 5 years or more before they can find her a kidney. Several family members including myself were tested but not a match. In early 2011 she began dialysis. I went with her 3 times a week to the dialysis center in St. Louis, MO. She was trained to do her dialysis treatments at home and our small apartment turned into a medical equipment supply outlet! There were boxes everywhere!! It was difficult emotionally for her, my daughter, and myself. But dialysis became part of our life. On December 28, 2011, Kate received the best phone call from her transplant coordinator. They found a match for Kate. She hasn't had a dialysis treatment since then.

Had I not lost my job or my wife needed a kidney transplant I may not have started Krener Bookkeeping & Tax. You never know what life has in store for you.

"A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty."~Winston Churchill

This was the first time Trucker Charity and Operation Roger have participated in the Walcot Truckers Jamboree, and I think it was a success. In conversation, five people were found to be in need, and their needs were met with some of the legendary Pork Chops of Walcott Truckers Jamboree. We want to express our appreciation to Ben Purnell, Isaac Bland, Kerry and Sandy Mullins, Shelle Lichti, and Sue Wiese for all their hard work at the event,

Trucker Charity gets a mention on Dave Nemo.

Tony Hamilton was on the Dave Nemo Show July 27, 2012 bright and early explaining the mission of Trucker Charity.

Get them safe, get them fed, get them home.

Thank you Tony.

Client Profile

Meet Paul Mcglocklin.

In 1994 Paul was on disability and about to become homeless. In 2010, Paul decided , enough, time to get control of his life. He began his struggle to become a truck driver and take control of his life.Paul got his class B license and drove a dump truck for four months before getting laid off.

Panther Expediting called him and he went through the D.O.T. physical and orientation and all the other hoops we all jump through. He hit the road. In Santa Nella, Ca Paul was temporarily put out of service because the state of Indiana D.O..T. claimed the D.O.T. doctor at Panther had errored in giving him his Medical card.

Paul got another D.O.T physical, passed, but agian the state of Indiana says, not good enough. Paul gets another one, and ask the State of Indiana how long this would take. They told him 30-45 days. Paul contacted Trucker Charity. They sprang into action and took it to the top, well not all the way to the top, but up to a Senator. It was discovered that the State of Indiana wanted an assurance that he was no longer disabled. Well Paul finally got his license reinstated. He has gone to CDL school with CR England which was a grueling process of being yelled at, made fun of, and yet he made it through the process and graduated. He chose to go to work for Swift Transport. I intervied Paul on the 30th of July and he had just graduated after his six weeks of training. He is awaiting getting his truck out of the shop tomorrow and getting his first load.

Congratulations Paul! and best wishes.

Volunteer Profile

Meet Craig Wilson

Craig is a 34 year old family man with five children. He has been at his career of truck driving for twelve years and is currently employed with USA Trucking a sponsor of Trucker Charity. They have allowed him to proudly display the Trucker Charity Decal on his truck. Craig has been with Trucker Charity for about a year now, serving as a Life Coach and has had three clients so far. He has not been able to help out at the truck show’s yet due to family commitments and just not being in the right place to be able to help. Sometimes the freight just doesn’t cooperate with what we want to do and where we need to get to.

Many thanks to Craig in his service to Trucker Charity and we all look forward to meeting you in person when we get the chance.

Trucker Charity adds a truck The truck is a 2001Freightliner Columbia condo .
